Mogees by Mogees is a Virtual Instrument and a Virtual Effect Audio Plugin and a Mobile Audio App. It functions as a VST Plugin, an Audio Units Plugin and a VST 3 Plugin. Mogees brings you an entire world of creative possibilities - YouTube. The LaCie Fuel is a small, battery powered, good looking terabyte drive that augments the storage of iOS devices and is focused on the Apple customer. It acts as a Wi-Fi source, and can transmit. The Mogees app is compatible with most Apple devices running iOS 8 and also available as AU plugin for Mac OSX 10.7 and higher (Windows compatibility TBA). The sensor includes four sound engines: Muon a physical modelling re-synthesizer, Interpol808 a classic drum machine emulator, Blue Steel a complex Karplus-Strong steel string resonator, and Foxtrot a retro. Nov 15, 2016 With Mogees Pro you can train the software (for iOS and Mac) to recognise different types on hits and sounds on any surface. These hits can then be associated to different synths and notes.

Mogees combines a vibration sensor with intelligent music software, transforming any object around you into a unique musical instrument.

{See video at top of page}.

The Mogees sensor is a high quality contact microphone that captures every vibration you create as you play any object.

It is also the first ever to be designed to work with smartphones as well as with standard audio equipment and computers using our custom Mogees adapter.

Gestures

The sensor detects the vibrations you create when touching the physical object and send them to the Mogees software, which will detect the audio frequencies generated by your gesture and will tune the sound of your instrument accordingly in real-time.

The most unique feature is that the software can learn a series of different 'gestures' recorded by the users, such as taps or scratches and recognise them during performance.

Each gesture you record can be either associated to MIDI notes, samples or one of our growing collection of Mogees sound engines, specially designed to allow fine grain control over synthesis parameters with your gestures.

Sounds

Four Mogees sound engines are already available in the app and more will be added soon :

  • Muon : a physical modelling re-synthesiser. Every acoustic sound in the real world is created by an impact of two bodies: a resonator (for example the string of a guitar) and an exciter (for example a plectrum). With Muon it is possible to emulate the sound of a variety of resonators made of different materials, where the exciter becomes any sound captured by the Mogees sensor.
  • Interpol808 : a classic drum machine emulator;
  • Blue Steel : a complex Karplus-Strong steel string resonator;
  • Foxtrot : a retro-electro percussive drum synth.

Midi compatibility

Midi is the universal language of digital music. Through MIDI, you can fully integrate Mogees with other audio gear.

Sync Mogees with your existing tracks: every MIDI note and parameter of the sounds you associate to your gestures can be automated from your sequencer. For example you can associate a thumb tap with a bass synth and its notes will change accordingly on where you are in the song.

Turn anything into a MIDI controller Your gestures can trigger different MIDI notes with velocity and control any synth or effect. Control a reverb effect by hitting the side of a drum. Trigger a sound by tapping on the body of your guitar. Play your favourite drum samples by tapping different parts of a table.

Bruno Zamborlin wants to turn the world into a musical instrument. The London-based music researcher has created Mogees -- a pocket-sized sensor for your iPhone that transforms any surface into a playable, programmable synth. Stick a Mogees sensor on to a chair, for example (as Zamborlin, above, has), and a finger tap becomes an elegant keyboard trill. 'The goal,' he says, 'is to help any object create its own sound.'

Developed by Zamborlin during a joint arts and computer science PhD at Goldsmiths University, and by IRCAM in Paris, Mogees' sensor uses a contact microphone to convert the vibrations of a given surface into an electrical signal. A software model then analyses the material's acoustic properties to produce a sound. 'Mogees extracts features such as the frequency, timbre, time decay and amplitude to analyse any gesture you make,' explains Zamborlin.

Notes are mapped to a specific song or scale -- so a palm slap may produce a low A, a light fingernail tap a high E -- and users can adjust settings via an iOS app.

Having raised £96,338 on Kickstarter, Zamborlin plans to release Mogees in August. It has already piqued the interest of London-based electronic duo Plaid (above, rear and right), who have constructed an instrument from five materials, each with its own Mogees sensor. 'The amazing thing for me,' says Zamborlin, 'is to see how people use it to make music in all these different ways.'
