Half Life 2 Ai Disabled
So I recently got the Orange Box, and tested out TF2 - not top notch, but enjoyable and playable. I suck at it. But enjoyable.
I decide to play Half Life 2 next, and holy crap it was amazing. It runs like a beast.
It appears that, even after many long years of waiting, the ol' 'Node graph out of date, rebuilding' and 'A.I. Disabled' bug still plagues Half-Life 2 on Windows XP x64. This is a pity, since you.really. need a 64-bit architecture to make Valve's loading times bearable. Unlike Half-Life and its expansions, friendly fire has been disabled in Half-Life 2 and its Episodes, making it easier to attack enemies without injuring the squad members. The only firearms they can't use are the Colt Python and the Resistance Crossbow. They also don't carry any grenades and they do not perform melee attacks at all. When I was nearing the end of the first chapter and I was on the roof, I saved, and in the lower right corner, it said A.I. disabled. In result, everything just stood still.
I tried two codes I found by googling the problem, but they didn't work. There was this solution that might seem like it would work :

Go into your hl2cfg folder, and create a txt file, inside this text file, write the following lines.
ai_norebuildgraph '1'
ai_disable '0'
Save, then rename the text file to ai_fix.cfg, right click the file and set it to read only.
Next, open up valve.rc in notepad, you should see the following
